Biography

In recent seasons, Mr. Diamond has performed Messiah with the Roanoke Music College, Buffalo Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Oratorio Society of New York, Nashville Symphony, Tulsa Philharmonic, and Princeton Pro Musica. Mr. Diamond is a featured artist in “An Evening of Gilbert and Sullivan” which has performed with symphony orchestras in Duluth-Superior, Cedar Rapids, Buffalo, Lakeside, Richmond and St. Louis among others. On the operatic stage he has performed the role of Almaviva in The Barber of Seville with Lyric Opera Cleveland, Opera Pacific, and a recording for Public Television Broadcast with the Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee. In recent seasons, he has performed the role of Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore with the Dayton opera and Prince Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola with the Indianapolis and Nashville Opera Companies.

A Specialist in oratorio repertoire, Mr. Diamond was featured on Boston Baroque’s 1998 recording of the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 that received a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Choral Performance of 1998. Mr. Diamond has performed Bach’s St. John Passion with the Trinity Church, and Winter Park Bach Festival and Monteverdi’s Marian Vespers with the Music of the Baroque, Boston Baroque and National Arts Center of Ontario. Recent engagements include Stravinsky’s Les Noces with the Nashville Symphony, Bach’s St. Mathew Passion with the Richmond Symphony, Haydn’s Paukenmesse with the Charleston Symphony, Bach’s Magnificat with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Greenville Symphony and Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem with the Bangor Symphony. Mr. Diamond’s past performances include works by Cavalli, Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Stravinsky, Rossini, Berlioz, Orff, Bartok, Janacek and Britten with symphony orchestras across the United States and Canada.

Mr. Diamond completed his Bachelors of Music Degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ in 1991. He received his Masters and Doctorate degrees (thesis pending) from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music between 1993 and the present. While attending Westminster Choir College, Mr. Diamond sang as a soloist under the baton of the late Leonard Bernstein. Mr. Diamond currently resides on a farm in Tennessee with his wife Jenny and their three daughters.
